Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University (KMCLU), Lucknow (U.P.), is a State Public multidisciplinary and multilingual university with a distinctive academic focus on languages, humanities, social sciences, professional education, and emerging technologies. The University integrates linguistic scholarship with interdisciplinary and skill-based learning, aligning its mission with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and global higher-education benchmarks.
The University promotes multilingualism while fostering research, employability, innovation, and social responsibility. In 2025, KMCLU received its first NAAC accreditation with a CGPA of 2.86, demonstrating compliance with national quality benchmarks in academic governance, infrastructure, and institutional planning.
KMCLU was established under the Uttar Pradesh Universities Act, 2009, and was named as Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University in 2020 to reflect its expanded linguistic and academic mandate. Recognized under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC, the University adheres to nationally approved academic and governance standards.
Located in Uttar Pradesh – the heartland of India -the University aims to provide quality education and deep understanding of India's cultural fabric, inspiring students to build a knowledge-based society. The first academic session of the University began in August 2013 with U.G, P.G and Diploma programmes in various fields. Currently, the student strength of the University exceeds 4,000 with more than 70 programmes being offered in the current academic year.
The University offers a rich learning environment for students belonging to different parts of the country. Since 2019, the University has enriched its curriculum by introducing AICTE approved B. Tech. programmes in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Computer Science and Engineering with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Further expanding its academic horizons, the University launched its L.L.M. programme under the Faculty of Legal Studies in the Academic Session, 2021-22, along with an M. Tech. programme under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. Additionally, from the Academic Session 2022-23 the University introduced LLB and BA.LLB programmes and established the Faculty of Pharmacy with B.Pharm and D.Pharm programmes.
KMCLU’s academic programmes prepare graduates for employment in education, media, translation, journalism, public administration, cultural industries, international relations, and emerging technology sectors. The University has strengthened employability outcomes through skill-development initiatives, and interdisciplinary exposure in accordance with NEP 2020.
KMCLU is actively strengthening its research culture through interdisciplinary initiatives and infrastructure development. The establishment of IoT and Artificial Intelligence Networking Laboratories supports applied research and training in Machine Learning, and Data Science, bridging humanities, language studies, and technology.
The University’s official academic platforms document ongoing research projects, publications, and memoranda of understanding, indicating sustained scholarly activity and institutional engagement. These initiatives contribute to KMCLU’s growing research output and network development.
KMCLU demonstrates structured institutional commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aligning with the international emphasis on sustainability and social responsibility. Innovation and entrepreneurship are promoted through start-up incubation initiatives under the Awadh Incubation Foundation, supporting local economic and social development.
